MINIMAL RECOVERY TIME

Sclerotherapy

Sclerotherapy injections and phlebectomies, or varicose vein excisions, often complement saphenous vein ablations.

Sclerotherapy is the process of injecting a solution into smaller varicose veins (also called reticular or spider veins) that causes them to close. We use Asclera, an FDA-approved injectable solution, and typically these treatments last about 30 minutes. This can be a gradual process and may require several treatments over a few weeks. There is very little discomfort with these injections and minimal recovery time with a quick return to normal activities.

We offer ultrasound-guided sclerotherapy using Varithena foam. Varithena is a proprietary, polidocanol-based microfoam sclerosant that is injected under ultrasound guidance in a minimally invasive procedure to treat varicose veins and venous reflux disease. This advanced technique allows us to effectively close problematic veins without surgery, improving both cosmetic appearance and venous function.

Varicose and spider veins may recur over time and need re-treatment, but because our providers are board-certified vascular surgeons, we provide comprehensive treatment of the condition at the source.
